Easter Markets

The 2023 Easter market opened from March 24 to April 15 and I was fortunate to be there at the beginning of it. The Prague Easter markets offers a unique opportunity to experience Czech traditions and culture in a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The markets are a beloved annual event, and visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of this special celebration.

Prague is known for its beautiful Easter Markets, held in many places, especially the city’s historic Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, and surrounding St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle, during the weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. These markets offer a variety of traditional Czech crafts, foods, and beverages, as well as Easter-themed souvenirs and decorations.

At the markets, visitors can sample local delicacies such as roasted ham, grilled sausages, and Trdelník, a traditional Czech pastry. There are also plenty of sweets and treats on offer, including chocolate eggs, marzipan, and gingerbread.

In addition to the food and drink, the markets offer a range of handcrafted items such as Easter eggs, painted ceramics, and wooden toys. Visitors can watch skilled artisans at work, creating intricate designs on the eggs or carving wooden figurine, a blacksmith using fire to shape metals with hand.

The markets also feature a range of entertainment, including live music, folk dancing, and puppet shows, making them a fun and festive experience for all ages.
