Charles Bridge at 2 AM

Charles Bridge at 2 AM.

This historic bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city of Prague. I’ve crossed Charles Bridge so many times to the point many times when my brother called to see how my travels were going, it coincided that I was on Charles Bridge. My brother jokes that the city of Prague should recognize my love of being very often on Charles Bridge and should erect a statue for me on Charles Bridge.

From these millions of times that I’ve crossed Charles Bridge, I can’t remember when I have ever been able to walk straight more than a few feet. I often have to either stop, walk to the left, or walk to the right, to continue my walk.

Charles Bridge is a pedestrian bridge. The number of people crossing the bridge in my opinion surpasses any number of people crossing a pedestrian bridge in the world. Looking in every direction from the Charles Bridge, it is a photo-worthy view. So people are often trying to take a picture of themselves or the scenery, often causing me to as a courtesy to stop my walk.

During my recent visit to Prague, around the first week of October 2022, it happened that I was still in the city after midnight. Since I wasn’t that sleepy, I decided to again cross Charles Bridge. It was around 1:30 Am. With so many beautiful lights from all around, especially from the Prague Castle area, it is such a beautiful atmosphere.

And with the fall weather feeling so perfect, I just wanted to soak up that freshness before calling it a night and heading back to sleep. That was when my phone clock showed 2 AM. Good time to be able to walk straight across the bridge without having to stop, go right, or go left.
